Paul Grilley's Anatomy for Yoga has become a paradigm-shifting modern classic in the years since it became Pranamaya's first-ever release. Now Paul is building on the concepts first presented in that DVD in an exclusive online workshop that uses examples of actual human bones to dramatically convey the wide range of skeletal variations that are normal and encountered in every yoga class.
The consequences of these variations are then demonstrated by live models in common yoga postures. Learn to understand your own unique skeletal anatomy and that of your students. Free yourself from the habit of comparing your yoga practice to anyone else's!
Topics in this Online Course include:
- • Tension vs Compression
- • Abduction of the Femur: Butterfly Pose and Spinal Twists
- • Torsion of the Tibia: Corpse Pose
- • Torsion of the Humerus: Push-Up Pose
- • Flexion of the Humerus: Warrior Pose
- • Extension of the Lumbar Spine: Cobra Pose

- Good Presentation Review by Daniel

This is a good presentation that goes into the natural differences of the human bone structure. It makes a good point that people will not respond the same when you give them certain alignment cues, because their structural differences. But I would have liked to see more examples of applications in different asanas. (Posted on 9/5/10)Rating

Paul has taken his work to a whole new level in this awesome course. I wish I could wave a wand and have it shown in every yoga studio in the world. It would prevent injuries (both physical and psychological) and open the doorway to deep freedom and wisdom in peoples's practice.Rating

- Approachable and Useful Review by Jessica

I'm a huge fan of Paul's work and this is a great, easy to use lecture covering several key joints, their movement patterns, and how individual's practice is influenced in foundational asana by their skeletal structure. Not as overwhelming as the full Anatomy for Yoga DVD, this is an essential resource for teaching basic classes and poses. (Posted on 8/17/10)Rating

About Paul Grilley
In the summer of 1979 Paul Grilley was inspired to study yoga after reading Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda. After two years study of anatomy with Dr. Garry Parker, he relocated from his home in Montana to Los Angeles to continue his studies at UCLA.
During his thirteen years as a yoga teacher in Los Angeles, Paul studied Taoist yoga with martial arts champion Paulie Zink. He also had the opportunity to study with Dr. Hiroshi Motoyama in Japan, as well as host seminars with him in the United States. Paul also has a Master's Degree from St. John's College in the study of the Great Books of the Western World. Paul enjoys reading in esoteric subjects and science, continuously looking for bridges between these two fields of study. He lives in Oregon with his wife Suzee.
