This inspirational DVD is an excellent, comprehensive resource for anyone suffering from anxiety. I was immediately impressed by Gary’s gentle, non-pathologizing approach. His conceptualization of anxiety and suggestions for applying yogic postures, meditation, breath work, and mantras to clearing its debilitating effects were clear and easy to follow. I also agreed with his focus on how intention, determination, and commitment are crucial to ameliorating anxiety. His suggestions for establishing rituals of self care, reframing thoughts, and taking a holistic approach all resonated with me.

An excellent, multi-dimensional practice for alleviating anxiety Review by Stuart
I acquired this DVD because of my respect for Gary Kraftsow's work, my affinity for Pranamaya's commitment to authentic and transformation yoga products, and my own personal health needs. I have a background in yoga with a strong basis in Vinyasa and Andrey Lappa's Universal Yoga, so I came to this DVD with a practice of asana, pranayama, and mantra (all of which are used in this practice).

The physical and pranic practices are very accessible, beautifully shot, and delivered with Gary's consistently clear and compassionate instruction. The physiological rebalancing sequence provides a sense of calm and stability in the body, without being overly stimulating for the system. The second sequence for self-concept is truly fascinating and deeply effective. The combination of self-reflection, asana, chanting, and pranayama created a deep and abiding sense of calm for me.

I use this DVD extensively now to help me remain connected to my authentic self and to manage aspects of my mental well-being. The effects of the practice were evident after only a few sessions. I look forward to continuing to use these practices over the long-term to maintain balance and wellness in my life. (Posted on 12/1/2011)

About Gary Kraftsow

Gary Kraftsow

Gary Kraftsow, the leading proponent of viniyoga therapy in the US, has been a pioneer in the transmission of yoga for health, healing, and personal transformation for 30 years. After studying in India with T.K.V. Desikachar and his father T. Krishnamacharya, Gary received a special diploma from Viniyoga International in Paris. In 1999 he founded the American Viniyoga Institute where he is currently director and senior teacher of the Institute's teacher and therapist trainings.

A graduate of Colgate University with a master’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Gary has developed protocol for two National Institute of Health studies: “Evaluating Yoga for Chronic Low Back Pain” and “Yoga Therapy for Generalized Anxiety.” He is the author of Yoga for Wellness and Yoga for Transformation, which incorporate not only asana practices but also pranayama, chanting, mantra, meditation, prayer, ritual, textual study, and Ayurvedic concepts.
