At first glance, padmasana, or Lotus pose, appears to be a fairly simple asana. Basically, you sit and cross your legs. However, this highly important posture is so much more than just sitting, and can be difficult for both new and experienced practitioners.
Plant the Seed
Pranamaya’s padmasana video course is an in-depth workshop from master teacher Mark Horner. In a 15 minute lecture and 90 minute guided practice, Mark prepares you to approach and rest in the pose of full padmasana.
This pose allows for deep energetic opening and is an ideal asana for pranayama and meditation. Many of us carry tension and stiffness in our hips, groin, ankles, and knees. Our padmasana video course will help you strengthen and stretch these areas. Through a focus on joint mobilizations and a combination of postures and movement you will learn to prepare your body for full padmasana.
Let it Grow
Over time, use of this workshop will allow better understanding and access to the pose. The stability and strength it brings to the spine makes it an ideal posture for meditation and introspection and will deepen your daily practice.
This important, yet challenging, pose is a foundational asana for any yoga practice. Learn proper technique and ease your way into it with our padmasana video course from Mark Horner. His lecture and guided practice will help you explore this grounding, balancing posture.
