Dear Friends,
We are going to have a ceremony for Claire this weekend. Claire asked that some of her remains be brought back to the States and scattered at the Yuba River, a favorite place for Claire and many of her friends and family.
We, her friends and family, will gather at the river on Saturday, August 21 for a silent mediation, chanting, the opportunity to express our love in various ways, and time to spend time with each other.
Claire's parents, Joan and Tom, will lead us through this phase. They have invited people to bring flowers and messages to Claire that will be sent with her remains. If you cannot attend, but want to send a message or flowers, I am certain we can coordinate hand-off in the Bay Area.
As for the logistics: The plan is to meet in Nevada City at the National Hotel, 211 Broad Street, Nevada City, CA 95959. Their phone number is 530-865-4551.
This is a landmark hotel near the corner of Broad Street and Highway 20. The website has a picture and map: http://www.thenationalhotel.com. We can meet there at 6:30 pm and caravan over to Edward's Crossing on the Yuba for a sunset ceremony.
