Hi everyone,
I just wanted to forward some details from Swami Govinda about the
pilgrimage itinerary in case any of Tara's friends and family can make
the trip. He and I and maybe others from Neyyar Dam will be traveling
to Delhi by train on August 31st and arriving Sept. 2nd. You would
need to be available and ready to travel by night train on the
afternoon of Sept. 2nd. The pilgrimage/ceremonies will be finished by
the 11th, but there are optional visits further north with some
wonderful opportunities to explore up to the source of the Ganges.
Many of you might know that Tara has made this exact journey before, so
we'd be retracing some of her footsteps.
Much love,
Mark

Just read the email about the pilgrimmage. You are
right that India is all about spiritual surrender.
Still regarding the pilgrimmage in the north India
with ashes of Tara we have a the following proposed
program.
The travel plan below also fits to my schedule of
travel as I am on my way to Uttar kashi for the TTC.I
am leaving Trivandrum a week before the original date.
Aug 31 - departure from Trivandrum by Rajadhani
express reaching Delhi on Sept 2nd - rest a few hours
in the Delhi centre - prepare for the travel to
Prayaga - Banares - Gaya - 3 holy places for the last
rites for a departed soul.
Sept 2nd evening - departure from Delhi to Prayaga -
by train - overnight journey. If anybody wants to join
please let the Delhi centre know (
delhi@sivananda.org, attn: P C Kapoor ) as early as
possible. P.C.Kapoor who is the staff in the centre
will arrange the travel - accommodation - rituals
connected with ash immersion in the 3 places. Just to
let you know that it was P.C.Kapoor who took Tara and
group to these places before. The ritual at Gaya which
will be the last one, is the final ritual to be done
to the soul , with which the beleif is that the soul
will merge with the Feet of the Lord. We will visit
the birth place of Lord BUdha also which is close to
Gaya. Banares is the one of the oldest pilgrim centre
where a departing soul wants to breath last. We should
be back in Delhi by Sept 9th.
Sept 10 - departure to Haridwar - Rishikesh - Ashram
of Swami Sivananda - may be overnight stay in
Rishikesh.
Sept 11 - departure to Uttar Kashi - 5 hours - stay in
hotel near the Sivananda ashram ( as TTC starts on the
next day the rooms are full in the ashram )
You may plan for a stay of one or two weeks here -
visit Viswanatha temple, Gangotri temple and Swamiji's
cave - also take a 2 day trek to the source of Ganga -
Gomukh. One of these days we will arrange a bhandara -
feast to the sadhus - swamis of the area in Tara's
name. This will be the final ceremony which can be
done with which Tara should be extremely happy about.
I am not aware of the cost of the whole travel at
present.
Hope you have a general idea of what may happen on
these days.
