Harley's lifelong passion for employing the power of media to simultaneously engage and inform stems from his discovery of books-on-tape as a remedy for his difficulties with dyslexia. An innovative storyteller, writer, producer, director, and lifelong entrepreneur, Harley began his career in the service of socially conscious ideas with Consumer Seduction: the Selling of Addiction, a documentary exposé on how advertising drives alcohol and tobacco sales. This was followed by AdSmarts, funded by the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation, which became the country's most popular media literacy curriculum for middle schools.
Harley then founded what would develop into one of the largest TV commercial, movie trailer, and DVD bonus content businesses on the West Coast, all while never straying far from his roots—creating engaging educational experiences.
For instance, his tech-savvy background allowed him to help design and create a state-of-the-art educational adventure at the Springs Preserve Museum in Las Vegas. Using interactive games, augmented reality experiences, animation, and visual effects, visitors learn about sustainability, science, and community—an effort that won Best Museum for Teens in Nickelodeon's “Parents' Picks.”
Harley continues to use his dual passion for education and digital media to expand on ways Pranamaya instructs, enriches, and engages its community.
